Someone needs to invent a hand lotion for baristi.

*displays cracked, rough-fingertipped hands*

It would need to survive repeated daily exposure to sanitizer water, which is to say 100ppm bleach. It would need to be temperature-resistant to about 205 degrees, and water-repellent. No, not resistant. Repellent. Our hands are constantly in water, or smeared with liquids that require us to go and wash our hands. Every thirty seconds during a hard morning rush, we touch a bleached rag to wipe down the steam wands.

If you work five days, it will take your hands two days to come back to normal.

Somebody smart fix it!
Oh, and fragrance-free, too, please. I need my nose for the coffee.

Wah my hands hurt.

ETA: I suck at replying to comments, don't I? Ari, hon, mea culpa! Good thing you know my GF, who can actually, you know, hold up polite conversation.
To anyone who feels I've been ignoring them lately: it's not you. It really isn't. I'm overwhelmed. The three people who get to absorb all that overwhelmedness -- lucky effing them -- could probably clue you...
