THANK YOU, SONYA TAAFFE.

What everyone should know is this. Without Sonya, there wouldn't be a book. I'm not sure there'd even be a me.

She's beyond brilliant, and maybe she's also batshit insane, and I think she's tryin' to melt her brain out there atop the Ivory Tower; but I love her so dearly, and she has gone underappreciated.

Her challenge to me some months ago took a crap-ass college manuscript, resurrected it, turned it around and bundled it into its current costume as a book. She never stopped supporting my talent. She did what parents are supposed to do, and got me through all the ugly spots when I hated my damn book and wanted to burn it. She's never stopped yet.

I wish she had an LJ, so you could all go there, and lay adulation and wreaths and slabs of ox at her metaphorical persona-feet.

Ten Things You Should Really Know About My Girlfriend, Not That You Care

cos this LJ has just gone right to the sap.

1. She's a demi-redhead. I'm sorry, did that drool get on you?
2. She's a brilliant singer, and plays the baby tuba, a couple random clarinets, and the piano. I know we all play the piano, but.
3. She speaks Russian. Dude RUSSIAN. I have someone to drag around Tsarskoe Selo now.
4. She'll do amusing things if you give her sugar.
5. She's a very, very good driver. It's calming.
6. She puts up with my sad, sad habit of getting melted butter/red sauce/plain water all down my front.
7. She's a slasher. She partakes in the penning of same-sex interaction between canon characters. I like this rather.
8. She's hypereducated, and also actually smart. She can put together things!
9. Iced grande nonfat chai.
10. She's worth all the screaming from my family. She really, really is.
