The Stars and the Cookie Jar

The cherry-cheese babka (seven eggs!) did not fall. It will go down in history, but that's for other reasons such as my mother in law turning the oven off halfway through baking so that it rose, and rose, and rose, and rose in the gently warm oven and so became the babka of doooom. But then it came out of the oven, and did not fall.

The latkes were not grey and crisp on the inside. They were golden and crisp on the outside.

Clearly, some deity is looking out for me.


Now we're off to visit more family-in-law, and then to a late evening candlelight service in the church where we were married. Beats a resort Christmas, really.
