I suggest punishment by firing squad. And have them firing squirt guns. :D Man, but they hate the squirt guns. I haven't had to turn the gun on mine in months, but as soon as I picked it up, they ran for cover. HAHAHAHA!! I am SO the evil overlord of the manor.

My cats want to know what punishment was levied on the vilely undertrained human servant with the temerity to lock up a CAT.

I think Benji needs a little crate time, myself, especially if that sort of thing continues.
