Me me me me me!

This entire day was about... me. I only spazzed a little tiny bit. Mostly because happy families make me nervous, and I'm not used to having, you know, birthday celebrations.

We woke up late, and we sat around watching Animal Planet. And then we went to Capriotti's and had thanksgiving sandwiches, with real shredded roasted turkey. I'm telling you, they're catering the wedding, as soon as I can find a way to make the stovetop stuffing that is part of the sandwich parve.

Then we went to Wool Gathering. They have cashmere. And silk. And really, really soft baby cotton. Like you'd actually put on a baby, as opposed to the one pound green monstrosity that was called baby yarn. Or maybe it was called a pound of love. Anyway, this was more like 50g of love. And I got some really pretty felted tweed, and needles made out of cheese (mine are not powder puff blue, they're sort of brownish-clear). I actually like the cheese needles, because they don't poke the heck out of my fingertips. And because they flex, it makes me unable to knit quite as psycho tightly.

And then we got apple cider doughnuts and apple butter. I haven't tried the apple butter, but the apple cider doughnuts are so delicious. They have crunchy cidery topping. And then I would have gone home and been happy. But my beloved insisted on getting me an ice cream cake. And then all of a sudden there was a side trip. And I have... polish. on my nails. I have never had polish on my nails. And it's like when I first got my tattoo. I look down at my hands and, "ooooh, shiny." And then I got an ice cream cake. And then I think we went home.

We ate dinner and we were knitting and all of a sudden, there's a flaming cake. And the cake said "Happy Birthday Me" on it. Well, it said my name. But it was just me and my girlfriend and our ice cream cake. And then I come back to LJ, and there's all these wonderful LJ wishes. Thank you for all my LJ birthday wishes. Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] setissma for the happy birthday animal. It's so cute.

Oh! Oh, I almost forgot. I got a card, and presents from the in-laws. I got a candle plate and a candle and a really really nice Polish glass vase. And let me tell you what my fiancee got me, since obviously you care. You care about the material trappings of my quarter century. My fiancee got me a beautiful glass nib pen. It's blue with white and yellow swirlies. Like old fashioned cobalt glass, it's really pretty. I immediately used it to write her inappropriate correspondence. And she got me the new one in The Briar King Tetralogy. I've never had so much birthday in my life. Let's reiterate.

Presents from mother-in-law: 3
Presents from mother: GOOSE EGG

And I'm being metaphorical. Otherwise, I'd just have a yummy omelet and be fine with that.

Happy quarter-century! That's a major one. Old and wise, I say, from my two years behind it.

I didn't know it was your birthday, too, until we got home! Happy Birthday from a near complete stranger. *g* We should've come seen you guys on Friday, bah.

I'm glad you had such a lovely day, Selkie, because you certainly deserve it. :)

Happy birthday to you (belated, because I am lame), and may the year to come be just as glorious.

Happy Birthday! I know I'm late, but I was in bed for a chunk of the correct day, and not in a fun way.
