Today I got my ears pierced for the first time. I think I look quite cute! And the endorphins help with the starting a new grownup job tomorrow aaaagh.

We went to Baltimore for the Second Annual First Ever Milliways Get-Together, had fudge and crab dip, and got (variously) piercings and a tattoo. [livejournal.com profile] darthrami and [livejournal.com profile] miraielle encouraged me shamelessly, and so I got my first piercings ever. Holes in my ears.

And so now I feel qualified to offer advice on both tattooing and piercing.

1. A tattoo is a suffusive, more generalised dull pain over a greater length of time.

2. A piercing is ow ow ow a puncture wound motherfucker ow, but the second it's over, it stops hurting.

So pick your poison.

My mother is horrified that I've gone and had it done, because our family has a nasty history of not being able to care for pierced ears in a fashion conducive to keeping them pierced (unless you read 'lanced' for 'pierced') but I think I'll be okay. And if not, I'll take them out.

In other news, Gatorade doesn't actually go bad when you accidentally leave it on the counter for a week and a half. It just gets a little thicker and zippier.

Cool. Does this mean I can buy you weird earrings for a wedding present?
