We have flowers.
We have a reception site.
We have RSVP's trailing in.
We have a ceremony site.
We have an officiant.
We have attendants who will not be showing up naked.
We have gowns.
We have a ketubah.
We have a caterer we like, hopefully.

We do not yet have enough music.
What we're going to do is take N's iToy and its Bose dock and fill it with enough music to last the reception. Because if you have a Bose dock, why hire a DJ?

So! Please post your music suggestions here!

a note on freylakhs and other alarmingly collective dances: we have a fairly small reception site, so all those would have to be done outside. Feel free to suggest freylakhs, though. We're not going to have the Bobbe Tanz because you don't. Want. My grandmother. Dancing. And we're not going to have a Krenzl Tanz because hell will be all sparkly with frost before I crown my mother with flowers and congratulate her publicly for birthing me. But other than that!

I want that drunken rendition of Eyn Mol on there. Somewhere near the end. :D

Hey, have you guys tested out the Bose dock at the reception place? Just a thought, 'cause I know it's incredibly loud, but I took some speakers with me before and hooked them up in a big room with many people talking and you couldn't hear the music at all. So, you know, you might want to test the acoustics like. Because you could always take a laptop with the exact same playlist and hook up computer speakers to it, and then you would have twice the volume if you needed it. And you could place them all surround sound like. :D But, hey, ignore me if that's not helpful. :)

We haven't tested it, but we weren't going to actually use the teeny dock. *g*

Sorry about last night - I went running and then collapsed, rather literally. My legs didn't want to support me, and so I didn't get to the phone.

(actually, I wonder if the bose would be loud enough... *ponders*)

If you decide you do want hora-y stuff, I'm putting together some pre-recorded sets of hora music for a friend's wedding in mid-to-late August. I can send you some or all of that, if you'd like. It won't be Quite the classic hora mix, as I'm working from what I own as a recreational Israeli Folkdancer, but it'll be dance-able and bouncy sounding.

I second the drunken collective reel through "Eyn Mol," and my other votes—based primarily on a quick page-through of the Klezmatics on my computer—go to "A Glezele Vayn," "NY Psycho Freylekhs," "Honikzaft," "Khsidim Tants," and possibly "Bulgar A La Klezmatics." (I find "Shnirele, Perele" terrifyingly catchy, so I'd avoid that one unless you want people to walk out humming it. Or Meshiach to show up to your wedding. Which would sort of rock.) I'll look through my David Krakauer, too.

FUnny, Mom and I were just disagreeing over the danceability of some of the Klezmatics' bouncier stuff. Your thoughts?

None of that are of any use on this issue. I can't dance, formally, at all; so I'll dance as well to an undanceable piece as to a danceable one. Those just struck me as good pieces for a wedding.

You people are evil! You're going to make me go out an acquire Klezmatics stuff!

I can't wait to go to a wedding where's there's dancing and people who aren't there to legally witness the proceedings. Yay!!!

Oooh!
I note you don't say anything about whether the atendees will be showing up naked...

I would thank the universe for making you possible. Your mother...not so much.

Is that the David Krakauer who went to college with us? I think he graduated my freshman year, so you might not know anyway.
