Oh, my head. I think I've got caffeine withdrawal.

Stop laughing.

Tonight I have to begin the edits on Vilna, and worse, I realised that two days ago, I handed in a short story with a co-protagonist called Nora-Jane. Oh, yes, hyphenated.

Here's to that one not seeing the light of day. I must have been more sleepy than I thought...

For Saturday, I have to have -- as the final assignment in my workshop crit -- a full day in the life of four of the main Vilna characters. Whether I want to do Raissa, Hirsh, Violeta, Fayge or Raissa, Kruk, Hirsh, Fayge or Fayge, Kittel, Raissa, Whoever.... I don't know.

It has also been drawn to my attention that Kittel may in fact be a punning pseudonym, but I do not get it.

For now, a nap.

Music:: "White Wings"
Mood:: 'calm' calm

They might be thinking that Kittel is like the robe a cantor wears when leading services. They would be wrong. Do they know you didn't actually make your characters up?

I had the interesting experience of googling a number of your characters' names as research for the Vilna AU, and discovered a site in German with pictures of Murer and Kittel (http://www.juden-in-europa.de/baltikum/vilna/ponar.htm). I also discovered that Hirsh Glik wrote the Partisans' Hymn, a song which my synagogue choir sang every year at Yom Hashoah observances but I never quite learned. It was a bit of a culture shock connecting the Hirsh in my head from your novel to the vague song memory.

Hm? I could have sworn.... Never mind, apparently I lack sleep in a bad way. More later. Thanks for the link , and thanks for the AU. More!
