One of the only bad things about a steady weekday job?

I cannot volunteer as a prep cook for Food and Friends.

...I went to the doctor today. It went surprisingly well! Am down to 285 pounds. Not diabetic, cholesterol lower than average, but blood pressure high enough that it's probably what's been causing my headaches. Followup in three weeks.

Waiting for the bus in the pouring rain to get home was not fun, as I hadn't eaten and was forced by fate to stand across from Generous George's Positive Pizza and Pasta Palace (You think I'm shitting you. I shit you not. It's painted California pink and has giant toy soldiers buttressing the roof).

O.o..what were you originally, if I may ask? I'm trying to lose weight, you see, and you are around my weight-range. Do you have high cholesterol, or do you actually mean it's lower than an average number? I'm also trying to lower mine. You can be my role-model. ^_^ *puppy dog eyes*

At my heaviest, 330 lbs. That was six months ago, before I moved to an area where public transit forces you to walk more than you realise you're walking. In the middle somewhere, I had strep and was eating very little besides frozen peaches and farina and soup, so I lost about 20lbs there. But I just try to let my fiancee influence my eating, not to eat after 9PM, and to get off my bus/shuttle one stop before the stop that's actually most convenient to where I'm going. I'm really working on impulse control (I eat a lot of frozen fruit when really, I want ice cream, and no, I'm not fooled and I still want ice cream, but the chewing on the frozen fruit makes you not hungry) and it's still hard for me to drink enough liquids. Crystal Light is your friend! Also, if you can't stand plain water, there's this www.truelemon.com site where you can order crystallised lemon juice for your water bottle at work. It helps a lot, the water bottle.

Ooo..frozen fruit! I never thought of that. That's a good idea, actually. And you were only about four pounds heavier than what I started out at in december. Then I was starting an exercise program at Bally's, and I lost about 20lbs, got to 304 - 305, gained a bit back, then had two pulmonary embolisms, ended up in the hospital when my weight was around 312, was bedridden for almost two weeks straight, so I got down to 299, but now I'm back to 311. Soo.. I'm trying to get back down. My ultimate goal is to get around 200. I guess my "ideal" according to BMI and whatnot is around 160, but I think I'd look anorexic at that weight, since I'm very big-boned. I'll have to check out that truelemon thing as well, since I try to drink enough water, but I only manage about a liter and a half a day, and I want to try to get about a gallon in. (...How do you manage low cholesterol? Mine hates me..eesh. Lucky.)

(oops) Oh, my cholesterol is lower than the average population, for whatever that's worth. Dunno how it works out.

I just came back from two years abroad eating no meat. This caused me to eat a lot of cheese and eggs. Very bad; my trigylceride levels are very high. So, avoid cheese, eggs, whole milk, fatty meat. Eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains, and a little bit of low-fat milk products, lean meat. My iron is also super low so I'm supposed to eat lots of broccoli and spinach.

Good luck to both of you :o)

SS--Congrats on the weight loss! You must be feeling FANTASTIC between that and the wedding.
