It seems unseemly [...Er.] to squee over wedding gifts when so many people have lost so much.
However, it is very exciting to be getting large parcels in the mail just for getting married, which, you know, we were gonna do anyway.
chaos_pockets sent us our very first wedding present, a matched pair of fluffy, soft blue towels. Towels that match and haven't been part of our domestic chattels since dorm life? Priceless.
chickwriter gave us a complete set of cobalt-blue Pyrex. Now we have mixing bowls and baking pans and a pie plate and I can just shove them in the oven and not worry. Have you ever tried roasting a chicken, several pounds of root vegetables, and the corresponding amount of potatoes in a dish that wasn't Pyrex? And these are blue.
And N's aunt and uncle, B & B, sent us everything made of glass that was on our registry list. We have beautiful hand-blown goblets, a pitcher, a trifle dish -- I can make trifle! Black Forest trifle and gingerbread-lemon trifle and berry trifle! -- and some gorgeous glasses and highball glasses that look far too pretty and sleek for every day use, but somehow are meant to be used when we just, you know, want a drink.
It's astonishing, and amazing, and I can't believe this stuff all belongs to us.
If you would like to know where we've registered, comment and I will tell you. However, please consider charitable giving before you go and look at kitchen pretties for us.
