The Post of Happy Things

I have a wife.

This is a very odd thing to be able to say.

I have the papers to legally change my name to [Mrs Selkie N's-Last-Name].

We're married. We have a certificate of the legal solemnisation of marriage, the exact same certificate issued to heterosexual couples who plunk down $211.25 CN at the registry counter in Toronto.

So I am someone's wife and I have a wife. So odd. So wonderful.

For those confused and trying to keep score, the huge ceremony, party and feast opportunity in October is technically a 'celebration of union'. This was just.... something we did for ourselves. Something we needed to do. And it's wonderful.

We couldn't get tickets to Brokeback Mountain, wah. But we had a fabulous time, and we're coming back as soon as we can. Is Etobicoke far? I have this new-formed fear of the 160-km-hr drivers on the QEW.

mazel tov! in all the craziness, just remember that there is nothing that can happen with the whole thingy in october that can make you not married -- that was the only thought that got me through august. my wife and i took a similar route, though we got civililly united in ver,ont, cuz hey, they have cows. and mountains. maybe canada will happen next summer. we think we might just go around collect licenses.

Depending on the shoes she picks, Nicole is going to break the glass :) If we both wear heels, though ,we'll end up breaking a lightbulb or something else loud and flimsy. It's all so very complicated, this smashing things.
