In re gay priests

I think I have some idea why they're doing this.

And I'd just like to flatly state that most pedophiles are straight men.

It reminds me of the way NCSY responded to the Lanner thing by increasing segregation between boys and girls at events. It makes no logical sense, especially since Lanner molested and abused plenty of boys as well as girls. But, if nobody thinks about it too hard, it's a great excuse for doing something they wanted to do anyway, all while making it look kind of like they're taking constructive action.

This sort of thing makes it hard for me to be respectful about the Catholic Church to my friend who is all of the following:

a) Catholic
b) feels bound by Catholic doctrine
c) intelligent, sensitive, and unprejudiced, with opinions I respect even when I disagree with them.

Of course, I'm pretty sure she is totally disgusted by the 'let's ban gay priest' thing, too.
