So, since everyone is travelling or about to travel or otherwise winding things down, I just thought I'd share one of my few wonderful holiday memories. (I only have a few because, well, this is only my second holiday season with
darthrami, and aside from the one time I got that beautiful chenille sweater from my social worker, albeit seven sizes too big, happy holiday experiences are thin on the ground. I have grown into the sweater now, and everyone who knows me has probably seen me in it.)
So. Here goes.
Last year, my (non-Jewish) fiancee supplied me with a silver gilt chanukiah and lovely candles. And when she came to visit over Chanukah, had learned all the words for the blessing over Chanukah candles. Now she knows them better than I do.
It's wonderful.
Our kids are so going to bensch over the candles with
darthrami. (I have a severe mental block over the line with 'l'hadlik ner' in it. I leave it out every flaming time. Makes it kind of hard to bensch.)
