I could be working on my self-evaluation for work. I could! But I hate them and I never know what to say.

Wife is listening to The Dark Is Rising on cassette in the car. This is somewhat disturbing, because I know the plot so well that based on the 10 minutes of narration I hear in the morning before she drops me at the Metro, I can accurately predict what will have happened by the time she reaches work.

No new fodder for [livejournal.com profile] selkiechow. Sorry. I made a devil's food cake over the weekend, but I need to mess with the recipe. To my mind, the cake came out dry and more buttermilk-y than chocolatey.

Oh, and I want to write a short story about a consumptive nihilist.

Yay?

DARK IS RISING YAY!!!!!!!!

I think I could be right there with you. I've read those books yearly (or more) since 1976. Really. I have my very first paperback editions.

I have heard of this '1976'.

I didn't know you liked those books though. Very cool.

I could offer up a recipe for something called Last Minute Chocolate Cake what lies in calling itself that. It came out very moist and tasty and chocolatey. I do not know how it compares to normal Devil's Food, but if nothing else it might give you ideas for messing around with the other recipe.

Someone who destroys themselves by eating? By buying stuff? *confused*

Oh, no, a person with consumption who happens to be a nihilist. It all hearkens back to the Great Victorian Opium Fic of 2004.
