Two days ago, our mail-a-pharmacy mailed me the last refill on my prescription. So, being responsible (and likely to lose the weensy piece of paper) I mailed in the new prescription right away.

The mail-a-pharmacy, despite having JUST mailed me a refill, filled the new prescription too.

So now I have a 5-month supply of my medication, which has its benefits, but cost me $60 all at one go. Logically, I called them to see if they could delay shipment. Something. Anything. I don't need all those pills, nice pharmacy people.

Oh no. Nope. They have to fill each prescription as they receive it, to make sure it's valid.

"But it's a prescription for the same drug as just ran out of refills, from the same doctor who wrote the scrip the first time..."

They have to fill the prescription before it will show up in their system as 'on file.' If they didn't fill it, they'd have to mail all the original documentation back to me.

Sigh.

I guess it's like a $30 tax on knowing full well I would lose the little piece of paper.

Oh, and in case people read here but have the Back Room on another filter, here's the PDF of Tea and More Made Easy: The Milliways Canon Cuisine Cookbook. Missing the cover art by [livejournal.com profile] chaos_pockets, alas.
