Since an identical plot was broken up by the Brits a little over a decade ago, it's probably safest to chalk the whole affair up to smoke & mirrors building awareness.

Um, basically, there was a terrorist plot in London and now you can't bring any liquids or electronic devices including iPods and laptops and cell phones and electronic key fobs in hand luggage.

Oh, not so, cynical traveller. You can still carry books in your hands or in a clear plastic zipper bag. And all your medicines! Which have to be inspected. But better safe than sorry with those antibiotics and blood pressure pills!
