Call For Strange Assistance

Hello, Friendslist!

So. Nobody's travelling, and nobody has any money, and lots of people have exotic illnesses this summer. (Was it like this when we were younger? I can't recall it being so, and I slept on a rolled-up quilt in someone's dining room the summer I was 18 and foster-care-less)

BUT. In spite of your financial straits and interesting fauna, YOU probably have something I desperately need.

Send me photographs you've taken of rail yards, buildings in construction, buildings in disrepair, hopeless and economically shot areas of the country, places it's not wise to step out at night, and NOLA in 2006. Send me St. Louis, Detroit, the Stockyards neighborhoods and Southey.

Build me a visual dystopia, all you creative and wonderful and visionary people with digital cameras who live in places I don't.

It may not be quite what you're looking for, but I have some photographs on hand from when I visited Alcatraz Island last winter. They've yet to be scanned, but once they are, I'll send them your way.

(Ignore the fact that I was planning to scan them in, er, January. *looks contrite*)

An LJ friend of mine is a photography nut where urban decay is concerned.

All but the first link in this memories set sounds like what you're looking for. He might have others in his 'urban decay' tag; I don't have time to check right now, unfortunately.

You'd have to check with him regarding permission for use, if you were tending in that direction, because I haven't talked to him to that effect. I'm just linkin'. ;)

I can give you pictures of people who belong in distopias? Even if that sounds mean of me . . .

How about a picture of Sherman? Every distopia needs a cafeteria where they pretend to serve food . . .
