I have begun to fear people who won't specify what they're bringing to a potluck.

We had a group Thanksgiving and someone brought lasagna. It was tasty, but it clashed so horridly with the rest of the meal. Another friend was asked to bring a side-dish and brought a package of generic wonderbread-esq frosted pastries. There is not enough facepalm in the world.

It's not really a putlock, but in our family, people always bring things, so's the person hosting doesn't have to do all the work. I'm not sure she's brought a bought anything to a holiday meal in... since I can remember. ;-)
