The Stars and the Cookie Jar

Having slept on it, I have assembled a virtual cast for The Vilna Stories' giant summer epic movie. Come on!  A girl can dream.

A girl can also have complete creative control over a film of her book, right?

THE SCENE: Vilna, a city flung out around a river, leaning and rather damp. 1942. You can tell because everyone is wearing nifty retro clothes.

THE CHARACTERS: a bunch of artists. For their time, very hip, and as for this lot, very rich. In a relative, living-in-squalor sense.

I actually know someone with the required singing-voice for Fayge, and not shabby-looking either, but at that point in her career, she'll probably be too busy petting papyri in the Aegean. So you take what you can get....

ETA: There would be no wigs. Hier ist ein Ghetto, kein Sanatorium; the means to good hair -- or even a haircut -- were not in supply. That always flicked me off about 'Schindler's List'; if I was in a film that shot beside Auschwitz, I'd cut off my hair, and never mind what Wardrobe said. And we all know how I feel about my hair.
