I think it may be too late for me -- much as I hate to say it -- but good job, all you halakhically enlightened people in the Conservative movement.

(To clarify, I've never met anyone -- anyone -- who identified as a Conservative Jew and discriminated against me or mine. All the ones I happen to know are quite level-headed and laissez-faire on this subject. I still call it a landmark decision. I just don't see myself returning to shomer-shabbes Judaism any time soon. I got wedged into a difficult place by unique circumstances. Meh.)

*thuds* Why am I still awake.

I feel like this can't be anything but a good thing. One of my high school classmates is a rabbi, her partner is a cantor, and they live in Israel at the moment, and I know this has been an issue for her.
I'm reformed, so it doesn't directly impact my synogogue - our rabbis officiated when the administrative manager and her partner wed a few years ago - but it'll be good for the conservative synogogue down here, which is on South Beach anyway.

Btw, did you see Dan Radcliffe's recent interview where they talked about reigion and he discussed his mum's Jewish heritige? That makes at least two Jews on OotP - they're working their way towards a minyan, but with no Lucius in HBP.......
