There is no reason to let 'etc., etc.' become a stylistic tic in the vein of the overused ellipsis. And the Roumania books aren't even Park's first books. Why didn't you rein him in tighter? This is annoying.

I tried to read the first book in that series, because, y'know, set in Williamstown! Sweet!

And I just couldn't. I got confused, and bored, and gave up.

Yeah, I just... it's disappointed me. And I can do non-linear,usually, and I did hear that it was supposed to be one book and Tor split it up in two, and in most cases that does affect the plot and structure, but in this case the first volume just cried out for tighter editing and more clarity.

I thought of you when I bought it, actually! And he had that brilliant conceit where the 'real'world is actually a book, and when the book is destroyed, so is the 'real' world... and it gets casually destroyed in one paragraph and NEVER SPOKEN OF AGAIN.
