We went to a midnight service at N's church last night. From a choral perspective, it was mostly a minor-key sheep slaughter, but yes, I do understand that's not the point.

From a spiritual point, it was very nice, at the end. They make the church dark, and everyone lights a candle from someone else's candle, which is just beautiful. We both burst into tears and held on to each other in the half darkness, because it still feels like we lost everything in a fire no one else saw. And it was comforting, and in the candlelight I could believe in what the minister said about this being a turning point.

I hope so. For us, and for anyone else that needs one.

I hope you had a wonderful holiday.

Oh, I love when it is just candles lit inside churches. It really does feel like magic or possibility is ripening in the gentle light.

We saw your fire! The holidays are hard when shitty shit happens. ((hugs))

I also enjoy xmas eve services, there is something magical about candles in the winter. One day I am going to participate fully in the solstice tradition of burning candles all night while waiting for the sun to return.

Hoping to see you guys soon.
