My First Children's Book: Now Available!
Written by me! Illustrated by Ji! And it has a rhinoceros!
If you have a young child in your life, please consider investing in a copy of City Life, a picture book about a two-mom family (one child, non-gender-specific). Wonderful pen-and-ink illustrations by J. Cecelia Haytko show a car-free family riding bikes, visiting the museum and the zoo, getting vegetables at the farmers' market, and just generally being an unremarkable family.
If you have a family like mine, you know how important -- and rare -- the unremarkable part is. We didn't work on this book to pitch a moral message, or club people over the head with the gay agenda (we're also selling the 2011 Gay Agenda! Leatherbound or Recycled Paperboard!) -- I just wanted something to read to my kid, and it became something bigger.
