When you see this painting, your first thought is:

a) Nice start on the cover for the Lesbian Regency Romance -- she's even kit out for the dragoons!

b) That is a manly victory portrait of the bloodthirstiest colonel to serve in the war against the American Colonies.

c) I don't care, baby, pitch or catch as long as you wear them snazzy regimentals

Yeeeah, that would be Colonel Banastre Tarleton of the Green Dragoons, ostensibly male, nicknamed "Bloody Ban" by the men under him.

Then again, I'm havin' trouble with the male thing.

Something about an erect canon.

My eye went right to that horse doing the awesome photobombing eyeroll-and-bit-chewing; the human was an afterthought, and I didn't think about the gender until I got to your question at the end. *laughing*

I don't know what this says about me.

PHOTOBOMBED BY A HORSE. IN OILS.

*awesomesauce*

I think Col. Tarleton Banastre (I just like splashing that name around) would be a little sad to be pwned by a horsie in his victory portrait.

This is totally leading to a nameless one-off cameo in the lesbian regency romance, though, where *koff* a colonel who made "his" name in the colonies is just as much a chick (albeit an epic horsewoman and sabre-swinger of a chick) as the protagonist. *beams*

I 100% approve of this cameo! (And of that name. Tarleton Banastre is an excellent collection of syllables.)

I may also mentally insert a photobombing horse into whatever scene mentions that dashing colonel, but such is life.

I am actively seeking readers for the LRR, so if you have a thing for horsies... (especially since I last rode in 2001, only ever rode in nonpainful/nondressage ways, and my horse-choreography beta reader seems to be about to have a baby...) There's also cavalry sabres, PTSD, and lesbians.

Did I mention those.

:D

Every single one of these things is relevant to my interests! >:D

I last rode in any regular way in 2006 or so -- living in rural Vermont makes this much easier than living in Boston -- and I never did a lot of jumping or dressage, so my knowledge isn't as comprehensive as some. But I do have a mother I can call upon if needed, who has owned several horses (mostly Thoroughbreds) and done competitive hunter jumping and a little bit of dressage, and who therefore might be a good resource or else able to point me to resources.

Cool! (Look at me not typing 'coolio'! )

...Whoops.

Are you thinking of participating in the Lesbian Noir Anthology?

Alas, I have zero ability to write noir. It's a genre I'm only familiar with in a cultural osmosis kind of way, which means I appreciate it but can only vaguely touch on a couple of superficial tropes before I start flailing off into totally unrelated genre styles.

That's a really succinct way of putting the problem my story is currently having... Well! Know thyself, and wait for the next one to come along.

The Steampunk Anthology With Lesbians In resulted in quite a lot of going back over Milliways with fondness for the crackitude. Good times, good times.

Are you seeking readers, seriously? Because I would be interested, if you'd have me read it? *puppyeyes*
