I had totally forgotten the white-washing bit, skin color being such a non-issue in the books compared to other things. I take her point about seeing skin color as a non-issue in fiction being easy for we, the WASPs of the world.

I weep now for what might have been had they hung on to Phillipa as the screenwriter, and wonder if we can persuade Wingnut to remake the series.

I'm pretty sure I don't want to know what Sci Fi is going to do to Left Hand of Darkness, since they have the whole gender definition issue to trivialize along with who's what color. Bet we won't get to see Genly Ai discovered in his transparent thermaskins and nothing else, either. :P
