The Stars and the Cookie Jar

Well, my huge case is packed, and my cartons just need to be taped,
and in the morning I need to make the bed and bag the kitty. And...
that's it.

So what am I doing now, you ask? Besides sneaking internet?

I'm reading Kurt Mobius' testimony about Chelmno.

There is nothing at Chelmno except some bricks and a river. The river
is ashy grey and the grass is green, green, green.

It all came from Hitler and Himmler and it was perfectly
legal, Mobius said. I'm doing what my bosses told me over and
over again to do.

It's so quiet at Chelmno.


The thought of Chelmno is why I have such a problem, such a
problem with those steel grates that go over the transit system vents
in the sidewalk.
