I have a broken toe. It's actually not very painful, it just flops about so when one untapes it. And I can't cram my foot down into my work shoe, so I am going to go to work wearing football sandals and hope for the best. Football sandals and pale blue socks with cream-coloured flowers on them, natch. My socks are the only place I can get away from the dress code.
Tomorrow
wickedtrue and
miraielle are descending upon the apartment whenever they want, to take me shopping for Shabbes dinner. I am very, very excited, and add that 'whenever they want' should probably translate to 'sometime after 10AM' unless they want to see me having a no-pants moment. Since I'm roasting chickens in our tiny little gas oven, I think the challah will have to be bought. I really, really hope our oven can fit plural chickens.
It occurs to me that our front door still does not have a mezuzah. I need to find somewhere to get one and a kosher scroll for it... And I'm about to ask all the nice women wearing hijab on the subway where they get their inoffensive, solid-coloured scarves. It is not my fault all the Orthodox Jews live out in Falls Church; I should be able to find a snood in DC. If you thought of little multicoloured fuzzy faces when I said snood, you're fired.
Mother and Father-in-Law have acquired A Dawg. I'm trying to arrange time off for dogviewing, as well as our kallah classes, as both things are happening in PA and this is VA.
[WE BOTH GET KALLAH CLASSES, WE RULE THE WORLD, HOW COOL ARE WE? SQUEEEEE!]
I'm worried about money, as I get paid enough but don't get enough hours to get paid in. And it's really rather hard to pick up shifts when the entire district is cutting its labour budget. I flat-out need to find a new job, yes, yes, but doubt my ability to survive mentally in an office job with no real change of environment or stimuli.
Oh, and here's a haiku from the cat.
attention! am happy.
no woodland creatures, but
naps on a red couch.
