A birthday request
So, this is awkward. I've never done it before, but I don't know what to do, and I believe in the power of the internet.
A good friend, unemployed, living with her mother, unemployed and with MS, and her one-year-old son, is down to the really really last bit of her money. This is the money from selling their cars, every thing of value they own, and living out of some Rubbermaid bins. Sometime soon, she won't have enough money to take her vast and ancient used car out to job interviews. If she doesn't interview for jobs, obviously she won't get any job. She's still navigating, and continually being stalled and rebuffed by, the state assistance programs, which are more strained than usual.

Has she gone to WIC? What state is she in? There are a lot of services out there for helping navigate state welfare limbo and the hell that goes with it.
